93.000.000 Warnowtunnelnutzer

As of 10:30 this morning, the Warnow Tunnel has personally welcomed its 93-millionth driver. We had the pleasure of warmly congratulating Mr. Sebastian Grobe-Biallas of Fero Frische Express Rostock GmbH. He was on his way back from a customer to his company in Hinrichsdorf.

It happens when you least expect it. Mr. Grobe-Biallas was very surprised. He uses the tunnel regularly for work, but—in most cases—no welcoming committee is waiting for him. That wasn’t the case this Monday, however, when he safely pulled his vehicle over to the right side of the road. He ended his phone call and immediately mentioned that he had very little time due to upcoming appointments. Managing Director Y. Osterkamp and Oscar the otter nevertheless took the time to present him with a few gifts. Among them were a large, beautiful bouquet of flowers with a stuffed otter, a cordless air compressor, a gas voucher worth €93, two tickets to the Rostock Zoo, the 28th volume of “Rostock Panoramas” by author Helmut Aude, and several other gifts. Mr. Grobe-Biallas handled this unusual situation with composure and answered questions from the press—including Regio TV and MV1—in his own unique way. Finally, a few photos were taken before our honoree continued his journey toward the A19 on this wonderful, sunny day.

An RFID tag is installed in his company car. This makes passing through the Warnow Tunnel toll station particularly quick and easy. There’s no need to stop—the tag is detected contactlessly by antennas, and the barrier opens automatically as the vehicle slowly passes through the lanes. Payment is handled simply via direct debit. The Warnow Tunnel recommends this option to save even more time.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Grobe-Biallas for using the tunnel and wish him safe travels at all times.
